  The Inventor's Story

 by Jason Saunders

Tennis all started for me at a dinner party many years ago. A friend of mine called John said, “Jason, you better take up a sport and get some exercise or you are going to get fat sitting in front of your computer screens all day at work”

He was right I had to start exercising,
“so what do you suggest I do?” I replied.

“Have you ever played tennis?” he asked.

“Yes a little when I was a kid, but only occasionally in the summer time.”

“Right” John said, “next week you and me are going to get on a tennis court and I will get you playing again”

It was November, so I was not thrilled at the idea of playing in the cold wet winter evenings, but if John was going to be kind enough to help me learn the basics, I thought I should try.

John had been playing tennis himself for about twenty years, so knew quite a lot about tennis and patiently taught me the fundamentals of tennis strokes over the following couple of months.

2-3 times a week in the rain, sleet and snow, we were on the tennis court until I eventually had a try out for a place at the Wimbledon Club, not the AELTC, but the club over the road :).

Over one hundred people turned up to trial for just thirty membership places. We all went on court in fours to play short four game sets and were watched by examiners to see if we were good enough for the club standard. I passed the grade by the skin of my teeth and so began my love of playing tennis.

I soon realised tennis is a great way to get fit while outside in the fresh air. Exercising at the same time as playing a competitive sport is incredibly rewarding. It is a unique sport that is sociable and challenges you to improve, while also providing great pleasure and satisfaction.

As my love for tennis has grown over the years, my game has improved and I have enjoyed playing in local club and open LTA tournaments. I’ve even won a few club tournaments and leagues along the way.

Over the years I have played at many tennis clubs in the UK and at wonderful hotels around the world. I have also been lucky enough to play with some of the greatest tennis players of our time.

enough to play with:

   The Invention of the
    Tennis Ball Dryer.

So after all my years of playing tennis, why and how did I invent the Tennis Ball Dryer.

With all the great times I have spent on the tennis court over the years, I have become aware of a regular annoyance suffered by most tennis players around the world and decided to find a simple solution that everyone could use.

I would like to tell you about how I have developed a useful money and time saving gadget for every tennis player that solves an age old problem.

When playing outside, tennis courts often retain moisture from recent rainfall, dew or frost. This plays havoc with our tennis balls. The tennis ball fibres absorb any moisture on the court surface and if left wet for too long, lose pressure and bounce ability. We’ve all been there, furry wet tennis balls that we place back in their tins until our next match, only to discover they are still wet and have lost their bounce when we re-open the tin days later.

They are no longer any use and end up being discarded for new tennis balls.

I realised several years ago that many players found this annoying and there was no other good solution but to just buy new tennis balls every time.

Some players choose to put their wet balls in airing upboards or on radiators when they get home, but this is a bad solution as the heat increase pressure loss much faster. The bounce ability will still be lost.

There had to be a better, simple solution that could prevent the waste of good tennis balls, just because they got a little wet.

As most tennis players use a new set of tennis balls between 2-6 matches before discarding (depending on hit pace and ability), it makes sense to stop any court surface moisture absorbed into the tennis ball fibres during play, from shortening the balls normal lifespan unnecessarily.

So I set about developing an easy to use, affordable device that we could all simply put our wet tennis balls into after playing outside and leave to dry until our next match. A solution to save us having to buy new tennis balls every time they get wet, saving us money, inconvenience and time.

With tennis balls now costing up to £10 for a tin of balls in some shops, this would be useful for every tennis player who plays outside.

The Tennis Ball Dryer has evolved over four years in development and offers multiple functions for everyone. Not only does the clever three layered drying system (patent pending) dry tennis balls after play outside in only a few hours, retaining the tennis balls bounce and saving tennis players money and time, but it also comes with a Net Measure, Easy Carry Shoulder Strap and will even Keep Your Drinks Cool.

It is fantastic to see my invention now available for sale to every tennis player around the world. I wanted to make my tennis accessory available for everyone else to use to save money and time as well. Tennis Ball Dryer has saved me money over the years and provided me with useful features I have regularly benefited from.

Some of the larger tennis retailers are trying to stop you, the tennis player, from purchasing the Tennis Ball Dryer in their shops, because it will save you money by buying less tennis balls from them over time.

As consumer loyalty for purchasing tennis balls is low, this is a short-sighted view, but they are all scared to lose any money on potential sales these days.

This is a tennis accessory designed and developed by a tennis player who has recognised a common problem and found a solution. I have taken the time and expense to bring the Tennis Ball Dryer to market to help tennis players around the world like you save money and time.

“Why wouldn’t every player want one” is a quote from a customer (D.Sandercock) who has confirmed it has saved him money several times over on new tennis balls already this year.

As you only have to use the Tennis Ball Dryer 2-3 times to pay for itself, when used to save wet tennis balls, it is an excellent tennis accessory that can be used again and again for years.

Offering four great benefits in one handy accessory, the Tennis Ball Dryer is a tennis players best friend. Saving money on tennis balls, providing a net measure, includes an easy and convenient shoulder carry strap and even keeps your drinks cool.
